NATIONAL SUGAR DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL PARTICIPATES AT THE 12TH ABUJA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR

The Council attended the 12th Abuja International trade fair which took place at J.T Useni International Trade Fair Complex Km 8, Airport Road Abuja, between 21st  September – 7th October, 2017, with the theme “Returning Nigeria to the path of Sufficiency through non-oil exports.

The Trade fair was officially declared opened by the Hon. Minister, Federal Capital Territory Alhaji Muhammad Musa Bello, who was ably represented by Dr Bala Liman, Special Adviser (finance).

The Welcome address was delivered by Prince Adetokunbo Kayode SAN, President Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). While the Goodwill messages were delivered by the following dignitaries:

  • National President of NACCIMA, Mrs Iyalode Alaba Lawson,MFR
  • Ghanaian High Commissioner.
  • Ambassador of Benin Republic.
  • DG, Nigeria Automotive Design and Dev. Council (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu.

 Visitors that came to the NSDC stand were from both the Private and Public Sectors. Amongst some notable personalities that visited the NSDC stand were  the representative of the Hon. Minister FCT, National President NACCIMA, Pakistani Ambassador to Nigeria, etc. The President of ACCI, and his team also visited the stand. The Abuja International Trade fair has accorded the Council the opportunity of creating awareness about its existence, mandate, functions and benefit derivable from Sugar Value Chain.

The event came to an end on Saturday 7th October  2017, with the presentation of certificates, prizes and awards in which the Council was awarded the best Government Agency in the Regulation and Development of the Sugar Sub-Sector by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry(ACCI).

The Abuja International Trade fair emphasized on diversifying the Nation’s economy and patronizing made in Nigeria products which is in line with the Council’s Mandate of encouraging establishment of sugar projects nationwide to boost local sugar production.
